I grew up in Empangeni, the youngest of 3 children. After finishing school, I met and married Trevor Atherstone in 1969. We have 2 beautiful children, Wayne and Mandy.

I started working at the Perm in 1969 in Empangeni and eventually left in 1982. Trevor’s parents had a timber farm between Ermelo and the Oshoek border to Swaziland. They asked us to move to the farm. I applied for a position at Mondi Forests in Warburton (in close proximity of the farm). I worked for Mondi from 1985 to 2006 when we sold the farm and moved to Natal. I found it very difficult to adjust from the quiet farming environment to the hassle and bustle of city life.

I applied for a position 2007 at Gate Properties in Kloof to learn the ins and outs of managing complexes. I was there a few years when Michelle Schwarting bought the business from Rod and Evol Goodall. Our staff moved with Michelle as she started Infinite Property Management in Hillcrest.

I joined Kloof Rest Home in August 2013 in Reception and have never looked back!!
Out of all the wonderful places I have had the privilege of working at, Kloof Rest Home is, but far, the most challenging although rewarding and special. I have met amazing people and have made lifelong friends.

God has been so good to me while I miss Trevor dearly, He gave me a caring family when He placed me in this position.
