Winston Park Care Centre — Every Level of Care

24-hour professional nursing across every level of care — respite, assisted living, semi-frail, frail and palliative — in spacious rooms, each with toilet and hand basin, opening onto your own private garden.

A Proud Tradition

Every Level of Care, In One Place

The Winston Park Care Centre, on the grounds of Chartwell Estate in Winston Park, Upper Highway, provides 24-hour professional nursing across respite, assisted living, semi-frail, frail and palliative care — so residents are never asked to move on and start over with strangers.

On this very site, more than a century ago, the Loyal Guild of Women cared for wounded soldiers during the Boer War. The Centre continues that proud tradition today, with a competent and compassionate team under the management of committed Nursing Sisters.

Care levels are set by professional assessment with your own doctor's input — so you only ever pay for the care you actually need.

Life at the Care Centre
1904A Tradition of Care
A Home From Home — by Design

Your Room, Your Way

Residents arrange their rooms to their own taste, creating a familiar, homely environment. Every room has its own toilet and hand basin and opens onto your own private garden — and double rooms accommodate couples, so partners stay together and are cared for together.

Our policy of unfettered visiting hours encourages spontaneous family visits — because home doesn't keep office hours.

Dr Lauren Southwick offers her medical expertise to village residents and care centre members three mornings a week, free of charge — and free Wi-Fi throughout the Centre keeps everyone connected.

Care Centre FAQs

What care does Winston Park Care Centre provide?
Respite care, assisted living, semi-frail, frail and palliative care — with full 24-hour professional nursing under committed Nursing Sisters, in spacious single rooms (and doubles for couples), each with toilet and hand basin, opening onto your own private garden.
Do I pay more if I'm not from one of your villages?
No. We charge one tariff for everyone. The old higher "outsider" rate — about 10% more — has been done away with completely.
Are the tariffs VAT inclusive?
Yes. Every rate includes VAT, so there are no surprises added on top.
Is the deposit refundable?
Yes. The R10 000 deposit is fully refundable when the resident leaves, provided there are no outstanding fees or damages, and it is refunded within the month of departure. For palliative care, a 14-day deposit of R15 750 is payable before occupation and settled against the stay.
Can a husband and wife stay together?
Yes — we have a dedicated tariff for couples sharing a double room, so partners can stay together and be cared for together, even as their care needs differ.
What are the visiting hours?
Visiting is unfettered — spontaneous family visits are encouraged as part of our home-from-home philosophy.
